The Debate: virtual vs face-to-face

Welcome to the debate. One contentious topic, two respected coaches and a whole host of ideas.

This edition we focus on the future of learning. The pandemic gave rise to the “Zoom boom”, as more people than ever before interacted online. Can virtual learning ever replace face-to-face? Or will video kill the radio star?

Working Remotely

The great “working from home” experiment saw the white collar economy run from a million kitchen tables. And guess what? It didn’t collapse. The experience proved that the technology works. No daily commute, less stress and more time to spend on leisure activities. So the argument goes, although the pandemic sped up the trend, it’s nothing new. Some of us have been working from home successfully for years, everyone else is just waking up to the possibilities it brings.

Return to the Office

The workplace has always been a collaborative hub of ideas. Working from home was only ever possible due to the culture, teamwork and values established in the office and the model began to fray as those relationships spawned in office environments eroded. Home working may have been fine for those with the space and amenities, but many of us did little more than make do. The time has come to swap the soulless experience of working on our own, with the energy, engagement and activity of the workplace.

I really love this debate! Topical and very relevant. Sergio and Dave do this so well. I can’t wait to see future debates. Hmmm … I wonder what the future debates could be about and who will be in them.

Dave and Segio, a career in TV beckons! Thought provoking stuff, it’s going to be really interesting to see how this develops and we need to make sure we are prepared to flex to different customer preferences.

Love this debate; it reflects what we hear every day from our delegates. What if the future was hybrid? What if we get the best of all worlds?

The current hot topic 😊 personally I think the future is a blend. I think we still haven’t reached the pinnacle of what is possible virtually. But I still love the joy and energy of face to face training and coaching 👍🏻

I think it would be a blend. Both forms have advantages and disadvantages. Last Friday after great classroom training I was spending 2h in a horrible traffic jam on a highway, I thought: “If remote, I could already be at home or in the restaurant” On another side being with these people gave me more insights than 2 months of virtual coaching. We can blend it and make it as delicious as whiskey and soda. Sometimes you need just scotch, sometimes soda only. And sometimes- both together.

Great video!! I like to think about and hybrid model, aligning the benefits for both of them, remote and face to face. We are so lucky to mix them. Looking for the next debate!!!
