What would you say are the traits of a typical sales manager?
Leadership skills are a given. You might also place confidence and good communication skills near the top of the list.
And then there’s competitiveness. There are few sales managers anyone has ever met who don’t thrive on competition.
So when faced with 130 expectant sales managers in two European cities – Athens and Budapest – we decided to play to those competitive instincts.

Inspiring platform-based game
We developed an inspiring and engaging platform-based game that guides participants through a series of simulations and activities.
The rules of the game are simple: points are awarded not just for the quality of output but for the behaviours exhibited, testing strategic, business and people leadership skills.
Louise Wilson was part of our delivery team, which also included colleagues, Dave Cosgrove and Chris Cummins.
She said:
“We delivered the game to cross-functional groups in both locations and asked participants to complete role-relevant activities that stretched and challenged their thinking.
"They’ve all been tasked with taking learning back to teams in their respective countries to create action and implementation plans that will deliver tangible results.”
Now that might generate some more healthy competition …
