‘OTD recommends’ is where we invite you to share the items you’re reading, watching and listening to.
Perhaps there’s a YouTube video we have to watch? Maybe you’re listening to a podcast series that we need to hear?
This March saw World Book Day, an event that is centred on a love of books and shared reading.
As a business, we tell stories to teams of people every day, from how to be better leaders and managers to issues covering wellbeing, inclusivity and self-development.
So we asked some of the team to share a story that really matters to them; some of the results are featured in the clip below.
There’s one book that has been recommended more than once. Paloma Moreno and Chris Cummins both put forward Nelson Mandela’s Long Walk to Freedom.
Here’s why:
“Nelson Mandela inspires me in the way he describes anything in his life,” says Paloma.
“There are small details and simple moments where he makes you see between the lines. He is both grateful and compassionate.
“Think about this quote: ‘No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, of his background or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite’. Ithink about where we are living nowadays, we need to have hope and belief in people like Mandela!”
Maybe there’s something you could share with us too?
